Grand Island residents Laura and Richie posed for us under the newly installed, year-round festoon lighting shining along six blocks of 3rd Street. Such lighting has historic precedent, being used during the Christmas holiday from the 1920s-1940s (photo below). The new and permanent festoon lights brighten the thriving district as well as helping create a more identifiable space. Indeed, within just a couple of months, they have cemented Railside as a destination as people visit to take photos of the whimsical street.
