GRAND ISLAND, NE – The top two scoring offenses in the first week of the IFL season will meet in the second week as the Wichita Falls Nighthawks travel to Grand Island, NE to take on the Nebraska Danger. Kickoff for Saturday is scheduled for 7PM at the Heartland Events Center.
The Nighthawks and Danger have met six times in the past two seasons, with the Danger taking a 3-0 sweep in 2015 while the Nighthawks returned the favor with a 3-0 sweep last season.
Head coach Billy Back’s Nighthawks had the #1 offense in the IFL last season with the IFL’s most valuable player at the helm, quarterback Charles McCullum. McCullum quickly returned to MVP form with an eight-touchdown performance last week against the Iowa Barnstormers, earning him the distinction as the IFL’s Week 1 Offensive Player of the Week.
Nebraska Danger head coach Hurtis Chinn picked up his first victory as head coach with a 78-47 win over the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles on February 16th. The Danger offense demonstrated their prowess against the Screaming Eagles in their first game in franchise history by scoring on every drive of the game after having an interception on the opening series. The
“I’m kind of a perfectionist,” Chinn said. “Our guys played well, but it just wasn’t as crisp as I thought it should have been. We just need to do all the small things better. The positive thing is everything is fixable, and we need to be crisp when we match up against Wichita Falls.”
Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.
Tickets for Saturday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1, or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com.
Following the game, an autograph party with Players and Coaches will take place on the Danger turf.
