Stuhr Museum is proud to offer an extraordinary opportunity to learn the art of basik with artist Kris Allphin during a workshop on Saturday, March 25th. This event is sponsored by the Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment and Wells Fargo Bank.
Kris Allphin, who is this year's "Wings Over the Platte" featured artist, will be teaching this class from 10 am - 4 pm in Stuhr Museums barn classroom. Participants will learn the chemicals, dye and process needed to create one batik on a muslin canvas and a silk scar of one color. Allphin will also teach the history of batik using samples, tools and books and talk about this unique and exciting art form.
This event is limited to 12 participants who will walk away with a complete muslin block batik and 100% silk scarf. First come, first serve.
