The Hear Grand Island concert series features 10 Grand Island-tied artists

GRAND ISLAND, NE — Statewide music-based nonprofit Hear Nebraska is excited to announce musical lineups for Hear Grand Island: a 10-week summer concert series in Grand Island, June 24-Aug. 26. Sponsored in part by Eagle Distributing, The Independent and The Grand Theatre, the "Hear GI" concert series features 20, original Nebraska musical acts performing free, all-ages, family friendly sets each Friday evening in the new Railside Plaza in downtown Grand Island.

Of the series' 20 bands, 10 feature members from the Grand Island community, said Hear Nebraska Executive Director Andrew Norman.

“It was important to us that each of the 10 concerts featured musical talent that grew from the Grandi Island community. It was also very easy to find — the Grand Island area has produced so many excellent musicians,” Norman said. “We’re excited for the community to be able to enjoy these free concerts and to get to know so many stellar Nebraska artists.”

Made possible by Grand Island business owners Sharena Anson and Brent Lindner, and produced by Hear Nebraska, each concert will feature two separate musical artists, representing genres ranging from funk to indie rock to country. The events include food and drink vendors starting at 6 p.m., with bands playing from 7-9 p.m.
