Bryan Morseman, 29, of Bath New York is making plans to run in the Nebraska State Fair Marathon presented by Pump and Pantry on Saturday, August 29, 2015.
According to State Fair Marathon Race Director Jeff Doose, “Here a young man, who’s been running all of his life, and has achieved a personal best time of 2:19:57 for the 26.2 miles of a marathon. To date, Morseman has won a total of 27 of the 47 marathons since he started running in 2008. The Nebraska State Fair marathon will be his 48th.”
What makes Morseman’s presence even more spectacular, is the fact that his new motivation is running for his son Leeimm who was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida, a condition that develops in the womb when a baby's spinal column doesn't form properly. If the condition goes untreated the disease can cause brain damage, loss of leg usage and other health problems. While Morseman uses the money he makes from running to help pay for medical bills for Leeimm, he and his wife have also created a GoFundMe page to help with those rising costs as well. Morseman’s profession is that of a precious metals clerk.
Doose said, “Morseman is a super athlete, completing 3 marathons within an eight-day span. He won one of those marathons by as much as 13 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor. Morseman’s ultimate goal is to become a qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Marathon team. The standard time to qualify is 2:18.”
The Pump and Pantry Nebraska State Fair Marathon is a Boston Qualifier and takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Runners may sign up at GetMeRegistered.com and for more information to go StateFairMarathon.org.
