Grand Island, Nebraska — In honor of National Tourism Week, May 2-10, the Grand Island Convention & Visitors Bureau is proud to sponsor a presentation by Dipra Jha of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jha teaches hospitality, restaurant, and tourism management and is a sought after speaker who teaches at many conferences and conducts training programs for a variety of organizations. The talk will be May 6th in the College Park Auditorium from 1:30-2:20pm.
Guests and visitors want more than just to look at the places they visit, they want to experience them. Jha’s presentation will help local hotels, restaurants, retail stores, event facilities, attractions and local leaders understand how to create experiences that engage their customers and create memories that last a lifetime. The customers will subsequently become passionate advocates for these businesses and the community as a whole.
Jha delivers a dynamic presentation that will appeal to a wide audience, offering fresh ideas for enhancing guest experiences. “Grand Island is a great destination with unique tourism assets and learning about the experience economy model will help the community and businesses in delivering a consistently high-quality experience for visitors,” Jha said.
Jha consults with clients around the world, and in 2013 he was appointed the first Professor in Residence of The Venetian-The Palazzo, Las Vegas, the largest Five-Diamond hotel in the world. He is a certified hospitality educator and trainer and was recently nominated for the Swanson Award for Teaching Excellence.
During National Tourism Week the visitors bureau will also schedule talks at area clubs and distribute the new copy of the Grand Island Vibe in partnership with the Grand Island Independent. The national theme this year is “Travel is _________.” where the intention is that tourists fill in the blank with their ideas of what travel is. These ideas can be posted to social media with the hashtag #NTTW2015.
