Stuhr & Hastings Museums Compete to Collect Food

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM — Stuhr Museum and Hastings Museum are proud to announce the return of the annual “Sharing Through The Season” food drive through the month of December.

During this friendly competition, both cultural institutions compete to see who can raise the most amount of food for their local aid organizations in the month of December. The food drive coincides with several special events at both locations, including “Christmas Past & Present” at Stuhr Museum (Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13 & 14) and “Breakfast With Santa” at the Hastings Museum on Dec. 13th. This is the sixth year both museums have participated in the food drive.

Last year, the “Sharing Through the Season” drive raised over two-and-a-half tons of food for The Food Pantry in Hastings and the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Grand Island. The hope of this campaign is not only to collect food for local agencies, but also raise awareness for the needs of the less fortunate during this time of giving.

Food donations to Stuhr Museum can be taken to the sleigh outside the Fonner Rotunda from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Food donated to the Hastings Museum can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. All food donations benefit the Salvation Army in Grand Island and the Adams County Food Pantry in Hastings.
