GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM – Stuhr Museum and College Park are teaming up for a fun and free reception to kick off the 26th annual Fantasy of Trees Exhibit from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th. The Fantasy of Trees exhibit runs Dec. 1-23 at College Park, across the street from Stuhr Museum in Grand Island.
While the Stuhr Building is under renovation through next summer, College Park has generously agreed to host our annual Christmas Tree extravaganza, the Fantasy of Trees. This exhibit will feature over 50 trees decorated by area businesses, organizations and individuals and delivers a wonderful blast of creativity and holiday spirit to viewers. We are very grateful we don’t have to miss a year, as many visitors have told us how much this exhibit is part of their annual holiday activities.
The reception on November 30th at College Park will feature the exhibit, live music from pianist Jeri Erickson, refreshments and a chance to vote for the “People’s Choice” tree, which is a source for bragging rights throughout the year. Other awards for this exhibit include Most Creative, Most Traditional, Best Handmade Ornaments, Best Tree by Children, Most Artistic and many more. We are also using this occasion to collect canned food for Stuhr Museum’s “Sharing Through The Season” food drive, which is going on through the month of December. Donation boxes will be available during the event.
Fantasy of Trees will be on display December 1 – 23 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mondays – Fridays, with hours running 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The exhibit is closed on weekends except for December 12 & 13 when it will be open from 6-9 as part of Christmas Past & Present. The exhibit will also be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. December 29 & 30, 9 a.m. – Noon on Dec. 31 and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. January 2, 2015.
