Grand Island, NE – The Tenth annual Blue Ribbon Roll Out, Food & Fun-on-a-Stick, presented by Pizza Hut and benefiting the Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation, proved to be a tremendous success in its fifth year in Grand Island.
At this year’s event on Aug. 9 the 1868 Foundation successfully raised upwards of $40,000 and welcomed close to 1,000 guests, making it the largest fund-raising event for the 1868 Foundation to date.
Fair-goers enjoyed a night filled with fabulous fair foods and live entertainment by the Last Minute Band, while raising funds to benefit the 1868 Foundation whose mission is to raise funds for improvements for the Nebraska State Fair. Guests had a chance to bid on live and silent auction items, including VIP Passes to each of the State Fair concerts, a 2014 Jet Ski and a party complete with unlimited rides on the much anticipated Wade Shows Midway.
“We’ve had a great response from the community in support of the Blue Ribbon Roll Out and the 1868 Foundation. It’s incredible to see so many come out for an evening of food and fun and help us raise much needed funds for the foundation,” said Lindsey Koepke, executive director.
Funds raised by the 1868 Foundation assist the Nebraska State Fair in a variety of ways. Last year, the 1868 Foundation provided $135,000 to fund a new air conditioning system in the existing Fonner Park Concourse.
