To kick off the annual “Wings Over the Platte” art show and sale, Stuhr Museum will be hosting the annual preview reception from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 13th. The event will take place at Bartenbach’s Venue, 209 North Locust Street in Downtown Grand Island and is free and open to the public.
The Wings Preview Reception is the first chance for the public to see the 26th annual “Wings Over the Platte” art show, in which artists depict life along the Platte River. This is the first year the reception will be held at The Venue, as the Stuhr Building is under renovation. The reception will feature light refreshments and a chance to meet some of the artists responsible for the show, including Donna Schimonitz whose work is featured this year. The reception will also feature live music by pianist Ron Kruse.
The Annual Wings Over the Platte Art Exhibition and Sale runs Feb. 14 through April 6 at The Venue.
For more than 20 years, the “Wings Over the Platte” Art Exhibit and Sale has been one of the largest, most prestigious art shows in the area, with state, regional and national artists depicting their vision of life on the Platte River and its tributaries. This year is no exception, as breathtaking subject matter collides with dozens of artist’s sensibilities to produce a show unlike any other in the area.
There is no cost for this reception. For more information, contact the museum at (308) 385-5316.
