Since 1938, high school marching bands have strutted through downtown.

The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce runs the parade, and in 1996 it set a Guiness Book world record for the most marching bands in a parade. That year, 130 bands tooted their own horns before many of them headed to the field competition at Grand Island Senior High School.
