Nebraska Tourism at the State Fair

LINCOLN, Neb. (August 25, 2016)— Drive a train simulator, be an astronaut or snap a selfie while tanking in the Wide Open Imagination Zone at the 2016 Nebraska State Fair.

“Nebraska Tourism’s Wide Open Imagination Zone presents an interactive area that showcases tourism opportunities. Folks can stop by to discover all the cool and exciting activities our state has to offer and pick up a copy of the new Official Fall/Winter Nebraska Travel Guide, to start planning their next vacation,” said Karen Kollars with Nebraska Tourism.

Each day some different activities will take place in the Zone, including Rowe Sanctuary’s sensory water table--demonstrating how rivers are formed, a LIVE viewing of the birds at Fontenelle Forest and features from the Hastings Museum. Daily Zone activities are listed below.

The Wide Open Imagination Zone is located in the Raising Nebraska Building on the northwest end of State Fair Park.

The theme for the 2016 Nebraska State Fair is Grand Champions. Made in Nebraska. State Fair officials say that the theme pays tribute to all competitors who bring their “A Game” to the fair each year. The Nebraska State Fair runs from August 26 to September 5, in Grand Island.
