Nebraska State Fair Cares Program Announces 2016

The Nebraska State Fair Cares program has selected Compass from Kearney, Nebraska and SkillsUSA Nebraska of Lincoln as first and second place entries, respectively.

According the Nebraska State Fair sponsorship and marketing director, Shaun Schleif, “The State Fair Cares program looks to help bonafide non-profit organizations throughout the state by allowing them premium access to the Nebraska State Fair visitors for solicitation of funds, item collection or program awareness. Organizations applying for the Nebraska State Fair Cares program must be in keeping with the Nebraska State Fair mission statement in providing for the underserved in agriculture, education, and Nebraska families.”

Compass’ mission is to assist youth and families successfully navigate life by providing programs and services that emphasize personal growth, foster healthy relations and promote connections to their community. Their mission is fulfilled through Foster Care and Family Support. Their goal at the Nebraska State Fair is to educate fairgoers about their program as well as talk specifically to guests about the importance of Foster Care.

SkillsUSA Nebraska in Lincoln empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. They improve the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training. They will use their time at the Nebraska State Fair on program awareness and to showcase their organization’s benefits to Nebraska Families.

Compass as the first place entry will receive the following:
• 10-Gate Admission Tickets
• 10-Parking Passes
• 3-Hotel Rooms
• Access to over 100,000 fairgoers on the Nebraska State Fair second weekend, September 4, 5 & 6.

As the second place entry, SkillsUSA Nebraska will receive:
• 10-Gate Admission Tickets
• 10-Parking Passes
• 3-Hotel Rooms
• Access to 85,000 fairgoers on the Nebraska State Fair first weekend, August 27 & 28.

Schleif said, “The Nebraska State Fair will match the dollar amount equal to the value of donations (Money, clothing, product) received up to $10,000 for first place selection, and up to $5,000 for the second place selection.   If a bona fide non-profit organization is selected that is information based to educate fairgoers about their service, without collection of money or items, that entry will receive $2,500 from the Nebraska State Fair.”
