Roller Vixens battle Central Kansas

GRAND ISLAND — Get your skate on next Saturday with the Platte Valley Roller Vixens.

The Platte Valley Roller Vixens, Central Nebraska’s premier women’s roller derby league, will play the Central Kansas Roller Girls of Hutchison, Kan., at 7 p.m. at the Fonner Park Swine Arena.

The Vixens last played CKRG in June of 2015, winning 100 to 48 at home, and are gunning for a repeat victory over Easter weekend.

Tickets $10 for general admission and $5 for children 12 and under. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rollervixens.com or at the door.

The team will also be partnering with the Central Nebraska Humane Society throughout their 2016 season, and will host fundraisers to benefit the organization at each bout. Founded in 1967, the Central Nebraska Humane Society maintains a leading role in the sheltering of lost and homeless animals, educating about the humane care and treatment of animals and advocating for animal welfare.

Platte Valley Roller Vixens, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non profit, skater-managed organization dedicated to developing and promoting the sport of women’s roller derby through training skaters for local, national and inter-league competition. Members are committed to being positive role models through displays of athleticism, good sportsmanship, and forming strong community ties through volunteerism and service.

The Vixens will play one final game in Grand Island on April 16 against the Omaha Rollergirls.
