Artist Reception for “Voice on Cloth” Free to the Public

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM – Stuhr Museum is proud to welcome nationally-known fiber artist Peggie Hartwell to Grand Island with a free artist’s reception for her show “Voice on Cloth” now showing in the Stuhr Building. The reception will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, October 9 in the newly renovated Stuhr Building.

Hartwell is known across the country for her “story quilts” which utilize human images and more abstract quilting techniques to tell stories, a process she calls “Narrative Quiltmaking”. She is teaching several workshops in Grand Island this week for adults and children and the reception will be her chance to meet the public, talk about her work and share her ideas with others.

“Peggie Hartwell: Voice on Cloth” was the first exhibit in the newly renovated Stuhr Building and her show runs through November 8. The exhibit features over a dozen works that span from traditional to “narrative” each with descriptions from the artist.

The reception is free and open to the public. Don’t miss this interesting show from a truly remarkable artist. More information is available at For more information, please contact the museum at (308) 385-5316.
