Nebraska Craft Beers Featured at Nebraska State Fair

Nebraska Craft Beers will be the focus of the “Pride of Nebraska Festiv–Ale” set for the Nebraska State Fair on Sunday, September 6th.

According to Nebraska State Fair beverage manager, Delene Dilsaver, “This will be a first for the Nebraska State Fair. Craft Beer Festivals are becoming more and more popular with a huge following and we anticipate a great response at the State Fair.”

A craft brewer, as defined by the Brewers Association, is a small, independent and traditional brewer. This means that a craft brewer must produce less than six million barrels of beer per year; less than 25% of the craft brewery can be owned or controlled by an alcoholic beverage industry member and the majority of its total beverage alcohol volume must be derived from traditional or innovative brewing practices.

VIP Tickets will be $45 plus gate and fees with a special preview from 1pm to 2:30pm with swag and amenities reserved only for VIPs. General admission begins at 2:30pm for $30 advanced or $35 at the door. Those attending must be 21 and older. Tickets can be obtained online at or at the Heartland Events Center box office in Grand Island.

The average American lives within 10 miles of a brewery and as a nation, the U.S. now has more beer styles and brands to choose from than any other market in the world. This is a rather recent phenomenon happening over the last 35 years.

Dilsaver says, “The Craft Beers featured at the Festiv-Ale will be uniquely Nebraskan. The state’s distilleries will join in on the fun featuring nearly 80 beers and live music. What we’re seeing in our travels is that craft beer lovers are becoming a community. A community that travels from festival to festival to try new beers for the passion, excitement, and joy that is craft beer.”
