Railroad Town's 1890’s Ag Fair on Labor Day Weekend

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - Railroad Town's 2014 season comes to a glorious conclusion at Stuhr Museum this Labor Day weekend with the “1890′s Ag Fair.” The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 30, Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 31 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Labor Day, September 1, which is also the last day of the year for outdoor exhibits in 2014, including Railroad Town.

Whether you’ve attended dozens of events in our 1890′s Railroad Town or never visited our Living History Community before, the “189o’s Agricultural Fair” is a chance to see Railroad Town at the height of excitement. The residents have been gardening, sewing, and planning all year for the biggest social event on the calendar. You’ll find agricultural activities and exhibits, a palm reader, a modest midway of period games, live band concerts, apple peeling and flower arranging contests, curiosity displays and more.

You can also enter your own items in the fair, which will be accepted on Friday afternoon, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 before 11 a.m. at the Telephone Exchange. Entries may be retrieved at 4:30 pm on Monday, September 1. A schedule of events includes:

Saturday, August 31
10 a.m. – Fair Grounds Open, Games & Exhibit Halls Open
11 a.m. - Entry Judging Begins
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Madame Wanda Palm Reading
2 p.m. – Railroad Town Silver Cornet Concert
5 p.m. – Fair Grounds Close for the Day

Sunday, September 1
12:00 p.m. – Fair Grounds Open
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Madame Wanda Palm Reading
5 p.m. – Fair Grounds Close for the Day

Monday, September 2
10 a.m. – Fair Grounds Open, games and contests begin
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Madame Wanda Palm Reading
4 p.m. – 5 p.m. - Entries may be picked up from the Fair Grounds
5 p.m. – Fair Grounds Close for the Day
