Stuhr & Arby’s Team Up For “Family Night: Learn A Trade” on Saturday, June 21

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM – Stuhr is proud to present an evening of big time hands-on history during our first “Family Night: Learn A Trade” on Saturday, June 21. The event runs from 6-9 p.m. and food will be available for sale from Arby’s of Grand Island.

Children in the 1890′s would grow up surrounded by tradesmen, from blacksmiths and tinsmiths to bankers and law men. During this event, kids will have the chance to try out several different trades throughout Railroad Town, with those who complete them all earning a special certificate at the end of the evening. Many of the trades will include an activity where they can take something home! Trades they can try out include:

-Typesetting in the Platte Valley Independent Office
-Phone Etiquette in the Telephone Exchange
-Tin Creations in the Tinsmith Shop
-Skyhook Making in the Planing MIll
-Money Counting in the Bank
-Ferrier Training in the Blacksmith Shop

Railroad Town will also be bustling with activity in the Mercantile and other locations. If you haven’t been to Railroad Town this summer, this is the perfect opportunity to experience 1894.

This evening will also include food from Arby’s for purchase during the event. It’s a great evening of discovery, food and old-fashioned fun at Stuhr Museum! Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children with Stuhr Museum members admitted free. For more information, call the museum at (308) 385-5316.
