Nebraska Danger look for third in a row against Tri-Cities

GRAND ISLAND, NE – The Nebraska Danger will finish their three-game home stand on Friday night with a game against the Tri-Cites Fever. The Fever come to Grand Island off their last second home defeat from Sioux Falls as the Storm broke a tie in the last minute of the game with an interception return for touchdown and a 47-40 win. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 PM at the Heartland Events Center and the game is presented by Home Federal Bank.

The Danger have reeled off two straight home wins to open the season after losing 52-35 to defending United Bowl champion Sioux Falls on February 21st. Last week, the Danger got an impressive seven touchdown performance from reigning IFL most valuable player Jameel Sewell. He also finished with 244 yards of total offense.

“I thought last week, we really did a good job after a slow start in the first quarter,” Danger coach Mike Davis said. “We just need to see continued improvement from our guys. Last week was a step forward and we expect Tri-Cities to be a really good test for us.”

The Danger led just 7-0 after the first quarter last week, but poured it on in the second and led 36-14 at the half before pulling away for a 50-26 win. Sewell connected with Kayne Farquharson for three touchdowns in the first half, the last giving the Danger their halftime lead as Farquharson went over the dasher boards for the score.

Tri-Cities defeated Wyoming in their season opener before last week’s heart breaking loss. Veteran quarterback Dante Warren leads the Fever with 357 yards and six touchdowns through two games. Defensively, Boris Lee and Dion Singleton each have 15 tackles on the season.

“We expect this to be a really good test for us,” Davis said. “Obviously, Tri-Cities showed that they could play right with Sioux Falls who is the class of our league. We’ll need a good effort to come out on top Friday night.”

Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Friday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.

Tickets for Friday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster. Theme for the night is Green Out Night. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1, or streamed live at
