Stuhr Museum Offers Surviving Spring Break Class

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM – Stuhr is offering a new class for students third grade and older who might soon have some time on their hands.
“Surviving Spring Break” will run from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 and 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 at the museum. This cost is $10 for Stuhr Museum members and $15 for nonmembers.
Did the early Pioneers ever relax and take a “Spring Break? “Definitely not! Experience a day in the life of a Nebraska settler with this exciting hands-on survival class. Students will participate every step of the way as they prepare their lunch from scratch on the wood burning stove, grind corn, make candles and clean up at the end of the day. Special emphasis will be placed on how the pioneers survived on the harsh prairie through blizzards, locusts, prairie fires and more.
Registration is required to attend. This class is intended for 3rd grade and above. The cost is $10 for Stuhr Museum members and $15 for non-members. For more information, call (308) 385-5316 ext. 204. Space is limited to 45 students so sign up soon!
