GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM — Hastings Museum is the winner of the 6th annual “Sharing Through The Season” Food Drive, raising just under 200 pounds more than Stuhr Museum.
Hastings Museum – 1,570 pounds
Stuhr Museum – 1,372 pounds
The food drive, which ran through the month of December, raised food for local food pantries in Hastings and Grand Island and is a friendly competition between the two cultural organizations.
While Stuhr has been known for “come from behind” victories during the past few years, Hastings was able to hold on this year, in part, by offering a discounted admission to the museum for those who brought donations. The food drive ran through December but was highlighted by holiday events at both organizations, including Hastings ‘“Breakfast with Santa” event and Stuhr’s “Christmas Past & Present.”
Whatever the outcome, both communities ended up winning as the generosity of both Hastings and Grand Island were on full display. The Salvation Army Food Pantry, who has seen increased demand for services recently, was the recipient of donations given to Stuhr Museum. It is especially gratifying to see our county give so much during the holidays and continue to be the generous, giving community we’ve known for so many years.
Stuhr Museum would like to thank Principal Financial Group, Home Federal Bank and staff, College Park and all our donors for making this a great year.
